In a thrilling conclusion to the Imola Sprint Race, Lirim Zendeli secured his maiden victory in the Formula 2 Championship after a fierce battle with Dennis Hauger on the final lap. Starting from second on the grid, Zendeli made a good start but was unable to challenge Hauger for the lead in the early stages. However, Zendeli remained close behind and waited for his opportunity to strike.

That opportunity came on the final lap when Hauger made a mistake at the Variante Alta chicane. Zendeli seized the opportunity and swept past Hauger to take the lead. Hauger tried to fight back but Zendeli held on to claim his first victory in the Formula 2 Championship. It was a well-deserved victory for Zendeli, who has been in impressive form throughout the 2022 season.

Overtaking frenzy in Imola Sprint Race

The Imola Sprint Race was a thrilling affair, with plenty of overtaking and drama throughout the field. Marcus Armstrong made a great start from eighth on the grid to move up to third place by the end of the first lap. He then passed Jack Doohan for second place on lap 3 and set off in pursuit of Hauger.

Armstrong closed the gap to Hauger but was unable to find a way past. Behind them, Zendeli was also making progress, moving up to fourth place on lap 5 and then passing Doohan for third on lap 7. Zendeli then set his sights on Hauger and Armstrong.

On the final lap, Zendeli made his move. Hauger made a mistake at the Variante Alta chicane and Zendeli seized the opportunity to sweep past and take the lead. Hauger tried to fight back but Zendeli held on to claim his first victory in the Formula 2 Championship.
