Dan Rather Warns of the Dangers of Divisionary Language
Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather has sounded the alarm about the increasing vitriol and division in American society, saying that he has "seen where this rhetoric leads."
Rather, who is now a special correspondent for AXIOS, made the comments in a recent interview with the news outlet. He said that he is particularly concerned about the way that some media outlets are fueling division by using inflammatory language and promoting conspiracy theories.
"I have seen where this rhetoric leads," Rather said. "It leads to hate and violence. It leads to a breakdown of our democracy."
Rather urged Americans to be wary of those who seek to divide us for their own political gain. He said that we must "come together as a nation" and reject the forces that are tearing us apart.
"We are all in this together," Rather said. "We are all Americans. We need to find a way to live together in peace and harmony."
